Mr K T Chacko, Director, IIFT

Mr K T Chacko is an IAS officer (1973 batch) of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Kerala and was awarded three gold medals for obtaining the first rank in the state. He pursued his Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University, USA specializing in areas such as International Trade and Monetary Policy. He was Director General of Foreign Trade, Union Ministry of Commercefrom September 2004 to October 2006.

Mr. Vinod Rai, Comptroller and Auditor General of India

He has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, USA.
He has wide experience in various capacities at both the central and state government level. He was earlier a Secretary in the Union Ministry of Finance where he was responsible for managing the financial services sector, including banks and insurance companies.

He has served as a Director on the boards of several companies including SBI, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, LIC and IDFC. He has been instrumental in setting up the India Infrastructure Finance Company

Ms Meera Sanyal, Country Executive - ABN AMRO Bank, India & Chairperson – ACES

She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK and an MBA from INSEAD, France. She has done her advanced management program from Harvard Business School. She started her career in 1984 with Grindlays Bank and joined ABN AMRO in 1992. In 1997, she took over as Head of Corporate Finance Advisory for Asia, and handled several restructuring mandates after the 1997 Asian crisis.

Mr. Ramesh Iyer, Chairman, Banking & Finance Committee – Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry & MD – Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd

He has been associated with MMFSL since its inception. He is on the Board of several other M&M group firms including Mahindra Insurance Brokers Limited; First Choice; NBS International Ltd, Mahindra Rural Housing Finance Ltd. He has been awarded the Bharatiya Udyog Ratna Award.

Mr Abhijit Sen, Chief Financial Officer, Citibank N.A.

He has done a B. Tech from IIT and studied management at IIM. He joined as cluster financial controller in October 1997. He was designated Cluster CFO in 2000. He served as Financial Controller for the Global Consumer Bank during 1990-93. His prior experience in the industry was as Finance Director for a large tyre manufacturing company. He has also worked in the management consultancy area prior to joining the banking industry.

Mr. Sunil Gulati, Group President – Yes Bank Ltd

He holds a B.Tech in Electronics from IIT Delhi and is a gold medallist from IIM, Ahmedabad.

He is the Group President, Corporate & Institutional/Emerging Corporates/Transaction Banking, Indian Financial Institutions, International Banking, Financial Advisory and Chief Knowledge Officer at Yes Bank. He also provides sponsorship to the bank’s Retail Assets and Business Banking – Financial Advisory businesses. He has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry both in India and overseas across relationship management, corporate finance, investment banking, risk management and corporate strategy.

Earlier, he was the CEO for GE Commercial Finance and headed the wholesale banking franchise of ING Group in India. He has also worked with Bank of America and Standard Chartered Merchant Bank.

Mr. Rashesh Shah, Chairman and CEO – Edelweiss Capital

He pursued management at IIM, Ahmedabad, a diploma in International Trade from IIFT, Delhi and a BSc from Mumbai University.

He has 18 years of experience in public and private markets in India. Prior to founding Edelweiss he worked with ICICIand at Prime Securities where he headed Research and Investments, focusing on the buy side.

In 1996, he founded Edelweiss Capital with another ICICI colleague, Venkat Ramaswamy.

Under his stewardship, Edelweiss has seamlessly grown into eight lines of businesses.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Stock Exchange and the Chairman of the Capital Market Committee of FICCI.

Prof Ashok Kapoor, Senior Faculty – IIFT, New Delhi

He specialises in international financial and forex management; banking and financial services. He has been merit rank-holder throughout his academic career. He has 26 years of active experience in the banking and financial services industry at senior positions. He has handled all functional areas including corporate credit and forex dealing in overseas markets as well as in India. In addition, he has over eight years of training and teaching experience as well.

Mr Ashvin Parekh, Partner & National Industry Leader, Financial Services – Ernst & Young Pvt Ltd

He is a fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a B.Com (Honours) degree from Bombay University. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, he was the Executive Director of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd., from 2002 to 2005. He has also held senior positions in Arthur Anderson India, Price Waterhouse Coopers, KPMG India and Hindustan Lever Ltd. He has worked in UK, US, Dubai and Australia on secondment programmes.

Mr. K.G. Bhandari, Senior Vice President and Head, Risk Management – IndusInd Bank

Mr. S. Venkataraman, Senior Director, Ratings – CRISIL Ltd

He holds a management degree from IIM Kolkata and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from REC Trichy.

He joined CRISIL in 1992 and has garnered extensive experience in credit ratings, advisory services, risk management, credit risk models, business restructuring, valuation, infrastructure privatisation, project finance, securitisation and corporate governance evaluation.

He has led consulting assignments on behalf of the World Bank, USAID, Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank.

In his role in the advisory division of CRISIL, he has advised on and implemented credit risk models and risk management systems as required under the Basel-II accord for financial institutions.

From 2004-07, he was the CEO and Chief Rating Officer of CariCRIS, the world’s first regional credit rating agency.

Mr. Mohan Shenoi, Treasurer – Kotak Mahindra Bank

Mr. Rajrishi Singhal, Consulting Editor – The Economic Times

He is a Master’s in Economics from Jadavpur University. He has been a journalist for the past 24 years, out of which he has been with The Economic Times for 14 years, which he joined in 1994 as the Banking Editor.

He was earlier the Executive Editor of ET. In the past, he has been with the Business Standard where he covered a variety of industries.

He joined India Today as Corporate Editor and was part of the launch team for Business Today.

Dr. S. Subramanian, Head, Investment Banking – Enam Securities Pvt Ltd

He holds a Doctoral Degree from IIM, Ahmedabad.

He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, during which period he set up and ran equity research at DSP Financial Consultants and the equities broking business at HG Asia Ltd. and UBS Warburg.

In the last five years at Enam, Subramanian has led several land mark transactions including those of ICICI Bank, Reliance Petroleum, NTPC, Suzlon, PNB, Yes Bank among others in the Indian capital markets.

Mr. B.K. Mandal, Director (Finance) – Shipping Corporation of India Ltd

He is a post-graduate in management from IIM Ahmedabad and a fellow member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India.

Before joining the SCI in 2005, he worked in the utility and manufacturing sectors.

During a career spanning three decades, he has handled various facets of financial management and has been deeply involved in the financing of big projects involving MNCs, export credit agencies and international banks.
