India is on the verge of a new era in banking. The traditional role of banks as plain lending institutions is fast changing. The opening of the banking sector is likely to throw up as many challenges as opportunities. This session will throw some light on the changing landscape of the banking sector in India and discuss issues such as the future course of banking sector reforms, the role of regulators, implications for domestic & foreign banks & the scope for consolidation in the banking sector.
